how to increase productivity

When Richard Branson (founder of Virgin Group) was asked in an interview what advice he would give to those who want to be more productive, his answer was completely unpredictable: “Work out”.

So true, I started a new workout regimen this morning with a personal trainer so that I don't just rely on myself to reach the intensity, proper form and frequency I want in my workouts. Today, I have been particularly energetic, focused and looking to come up with new creative projects.

Why isn't this the default then? Carving out the time to exercise and push ourselves to enhance our health and productivity. We find road blocks constantly: An extra hour of sleep, a TV show, or spend time on the computer. Maybe the accountability factor of working with a trainer will help you. Maybe it's simply finding a friend to meet you for a walk or workout.

Regardless of what gets you exercising regularly, schedule it in your calendar and get started soon. Your creativity and productivity will help you forget about that extra hour of sleep.

Thank you for sharing on the topic of exercise and how it relates to higher productivity. I can relate. I have strugled with the same road blocks that you had mentioned. I found that scheduling time to frequent a gym, actually became a road block in it self because of the amount of time I spent in travel along with some of the other distractions that come along with exercising in areas that are many times crowded with other gym members sharing the same goal. When I decided to break it down, I realized that my work outs required around 2 hrs per.

I am so happy to share that I have found a solution that fits perfectly into my schedule. Its called P90X. P90x is a work out that I can do in a small space (living room, bed room, garage, porch..), Tony Horton is entertaining and acts as your personal trainer in the videos, all of the workouts are 1 hr accept YogaX which is 1.50 hr, it covers cadio and strength training, does not require a lot of expensive equipment to be successful.

I have to admit that I was a intimidated at first by all the hype surrounding the level of difficulty. But thankfully, I believe that I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me! I decided to start out slow. During the first days I would only do the warm ups and cool downs (that's how out of shape I was...lol) and in about six months I was in good enough shape to complete all of the workouts without stopping or modifying any of the moves.

It changed my life! Sleeping, working, playing, serving.....now take less energy and are much more rewarding. These days my daily schedule is full of all sorts of events but the load feels very light. When I keep the exercise of my MInd, Body and Spirit as part of my daily schedule, I feel good about who I am and to me that's the key to a joy that's not fleeting.
