One Exception to Michael Pollan's Food Rules

Baby carrot marketing

One of Michael Pollan's food rules and one to live by is to avoid foods that make health claims on the package. Well, this will be one exception. I opened the fridge at work and saw this on the top and wondered what awful Easter candy is behind the packaging (I share an office with some family practice staff that eat what I can only imagine, but always hope I am wrong is the Standard American Diet (SAD)). Low and behold, it was carrots! What a pleasant surprise.

I read an article several months ago that the carrot industry is putting millions behind funding a way to package their foods to gain better appeal to kids. I hope it's working! Our kids need it.
